Kinnernet 2007 #6: Meeting Peter Hirshberg, "What is Blogging?" Videos

So here's the last reflection on Kinnernet (we already got the next event coming up on June, it's about Music and hopefully exciting things will happen there as well).

-> Jump directly to the videos, or continue reading...

I had the chance to meet Peter Hirshberg (Technorati's Chairman) during the camp. He gave a cool presentation on the history of computing, and also an insightful keynote during the following The Marker Com.vention 2007 event.

I first saw Peter at AO 2004 (wasn't there, but watched the webcasts), when he was moderating the panel on what blogging is. It was 2004 and blogs were that "new internet thing" buzzed everywhere. Lots has changed since then, but the great thing on this panel was Peter's brilliant and funny video interviews with people in the street, looking for answers on what are blogs and what you know about it.
Well, I had to rip those videos, and 3 years after, it now comes handy.

I thought it could be nice to post those interviews, and was managed to find them on my dusty CD case. Of course I also ripped the keynote on The Marker event, but unfortunately the shooting angle there wasn't good, and basically misses the screen (how typical of The Marker...).

So here are the vids, watch them - it's really great laugh !

Part 1 - What is a blogger? Are you a blogger?:

Part 2 - Asking the Expert:

Part 3 - Where's the Blogosphere (the funniest of all - don't miss this):

Have to note that the French girl on 1:14 is really cute...

Kinnernet 2007 #5: The Incredible Balls Organ (Xylophone) Machine

Aside from the Thinktanks camp, Kinnernet is also very much a Geeks Vaudeville -  something I never really had a chance to attend before, and was a great experience. The highlight event was the Power Tool Drag Race (will cover that later) hosted by Pablos, but what hooked me was This amazing music machine, built by Didi Vardi.

First play the vid to get a taste:

Quite a crazy thing, with a lovely glimpse of magic. Lots of things are moving, jumping and making sounds. Apparently they also presented it on The Burning Man festival, under the official name of "The Vibrating Laser Balls Organ".

Neat stuff. So I've been thinking what tune I can put for this item, and had to come with this killer live mashup from the Stanton Warriors (who recently played at the Barzilay Club here in Tel Aviv).

Thanks to Robert from Zickel (check out his cars!) for the video and some of the pics.

Kinnernet 2007 #4: Video "Supermarket 2.0"

A brilliant short movie you ought to watch, made by Lior from Wishood and Gil from Urbanseeder.
(could also be added to the everything 2.0 list i guess).

Supermarket 2.0 - The best free videos are right here

Online web 2.0 practices fused with the real life. This video should be submitted to some competition for sure...

Kinnernet 2007 #3: Video "How to become a Kinnernet Cult Master Warrior"

This is an absolutely dope that left everybody open-mouthed.
Watch Pulver, Yossi Vardi, and other kingpins all animated with the Gizmoz 3D technology, in a twisted mysterious plot.
Creativity par excellence.

Kinnernet 2007 #2: Kinkiness with Google Code search

So Kinnernet ended last Saturday, with lots of great memories and interesting personal encounters.

It's too huge to summarize the experience, but I'll try in the next posts to throw some highlights from this unique event of creative minds clash.

First is a nice neat hack, presented by Nimrod Lehavi, an ace coder from Israel.

Apparently if you search Google code search for cool funny comments, you get a flood of results of what
Nimrod calls 'a deeper look into a coder mind'...Check out these links:

Who said google can't also be
a tool for psychological analysis..?
