Exclusive: Free Invitations to Palore Beta – Local Search Browser Companion

You can join now the Palore beta, thanks to an invite link I got from the lads there.

Palore is a browser add-on which adds relevant highlights to search results about information that matters to you. Icons that represent features/attributes are presented next to the search results.

The current beta version is focused on Restaurants, Bars and Cafés:

Palore icons in Google Local search results

Palore Icon SetA nice set of “info icons” (here's "Green" for example) is used for highlighting features such as Green, Kosher, Wifi, Fair Trade, Vegetarian and more.

The plan is to extend the icons set to support more local search categories later on.

I find great value in the way the “content layers” (icons) are subtly placed near the search results, in a sleek and unobtrusive manner.
It’s essentially a tiny “Insights Highlighter“ tool, that provides a better visualization of the search results attributes you care about (= making your search easier).

I’ll post later on about my experiments with similar Semantic web tools.

If you are in North America, you can also call for free to the business using a Click-to-call web interface which pop-ups when you click on the phone number.

For Firefox & Internet Explorer

So Here's the download link :) No invitation codes, just direct link for install file.

PaloresitesThe current version works with all the leading Local Search, Yellow Pages and Vertical sites.

Entrepreneur Snacks: Piper Jaffray's "All Things Internet" report

Something nice I read in Palore CEO blog (Hanan), is the new ultra beefy (425 pages) report from Piper Jaffray about "All Things Internet". Greg Sterling posts the download link for the full report (pdf).

Well, everyone today are writing about trends and best practices in the age of web 2.0 - and this report brings some numbers and evaluations that could be useful not only when you prepare the next investor presentation, but also to get a deeper look at what people are doing in the internet, and what value it has as a media (= if you want to base your startup on advertising - really go read this paper).

Hanan highlights the immense value of Local Search for internet users (2nd most used internet service, after email) - something that even surprised me. Everybody was predicting that Local Search is the most promising sector in vertical search, but 2nd most used service....? wow...this is really how digital revolutions are happening.
People used to work with print Yellow Pages. The internet brings so much more value to local search (reviews, data, display, comparison) - and the disruption happens quickly.

Disclaimer: I'm a small investor in Palore, and past employee.
